What Magnific is
Freepik bought the Magnific upscaler in May 2024 and renamed the whole company Magnific on 28 April 2026; freepik.com now redirects to magnific.com.
It bundles a stock library of more than 250 million assets with image, video and audio generation, upscaling and Spaces, a node canvas whose workflows can be saved as reusable apps.
Side by side
| Topic | Magnific | Wavemaker |
|---|---|---|
| How you direct it | Pick a tool and a model per generation, or chain steps on the Spaces node canvas and run the chain. An AI assistant is included. | A conversation with Wavemaker's agent in the web app, or your own agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others) over MCP, the CLI or the HTTP API. The agent chooses the models and the method for each piece and keeps that method so you can run it again. |
| What it makes | Images, video up to 4K with audio, sound effects and music, upscales, 3D, plus stock assets. | Stills, video with sound, voiceover, music, sound effects and HTML5 display ads, assembled into ads, UGC-style spots, short films, music videos and explainers. |
| Models | Mostly third-party: Veo 3.1, Seedance 2.0, Kling 3.0 and 4.0, Nano Banana 2 and Pro, Wan. Its own Magnific One image model launched in October 2026. | Self-hosted MiniMax H3 is the default for video, alongside LTX and SeedVR2 upscaling. Partner models include Kling, Seedance, Runway, Luma, Gemini image and video, OpenAI image, xAI image and video, Ideogram, and ElevenLabs voice and music. |
| Editing | Generation and image editing tools; no video timeline found. | The agent trims, crops, reframes, upscales, retimes, grades, mixes and captions, and can watch and listen to the result to check it. A simple timeline editor lets you trim and reorder clips yourself. There is no full multitrack editor. |
| Ads and UGC | No dedicated ad or UGC workflow found; brand kits are available. | Product ads, UGC-style creator spots, presenter ads and display sets from a brief, with placement specs for YouTube, TikTok, Meta, Pinterest, Reddit and CTV. Characters are made for each piece; there is no stock library of AI actors. Wavemaker does not publish ads or track their performance. |
| API, MCP and CLI | REST API and an official MCP server at mcp.magnific.com with about 236 tools, billed from the same credits. | Twelve tools over MCP with OAuth, the same tools over HTTP, a CLI and SDKs. Every surface spends the same credits. |
| Pricing | Premium $20 a month, Premium+ $45, Pro Starter $110, with yearly credit allowances. Business and Enterprise plans for teams. | Credit packs from $19.99 for 300 credits, with no subscription needed, and a Pro plan in four sizes from $49 a month. Pack credits never expire. Work on Wavemaker's own GPUs and servers is charged at twice its cost, and partner models and services at cost plus 10%. A fully animated, finished 1-minute video typically costs about $31 at pack prices. |
| Free use | No free plan shown on the pricing page. | 300 starter credits once, valid for 14 days. A video made before the workspace's first payment carries a small Wavemaker badge. |
Where Magnific is stronger
- A stock library of more than 250 million assets in the same subscription.
- The original Magnific upscaler and a wide menu of partner models in one credit balance.
- Spaces lets a team build a workflow once on a shared canvas and hand it out as an app.
- A larger MCP surface, about 236 tools, and a large paying user base.
Where Wavemaker is different
- You describe the piece in conversation and the agent plans the method; with Magnific you build or pick the workflow.
- Wavemaker finishes the piece: script, voice, music, edit, captions and placement checks for a named destination.
- The method behind a piece is saved as a plain Comfy graph that you can read and run again.
Which to choose
Choose Magnific if you want stock assets, upscaling and many models under one subscription, and you like building node workflows yourself.
Choose Wavemaker if you want to describe an ad or film and get a finished, edited piece back, with the method kept for next time.
