Getting started

What can I make with Wavemaker?

Images, video, speech, music and sound effects. You describe the result in a conversation, and the agent plans the work, makes it, checks it and saves the files to your Library. See Your first creative conversation.

How do I make my first video?

Select New chat, choose an idea under the composer such as UGC ad for my product or Product launch film, and replace the bracketed parts of the starter brief. Say who it is for, where it will run, how long and in what shape, and any words that must appear exactly, add product photos with the tilted Add card, then send. See Make your first piece and Write a useful creative brief.

Can I use my own photos, logo or music?

Yes. Select the tilted Add card beside the brief and choose Upload files or Add from Library, or drop files on the brief. One message takes up to 8 uploaded files, 5 GB each and 10 GB in total, and up to 40 files counting Library items. Say in the brief what each file is for. See Use references, characters and styles.

Do I have to keep the page open while it works?

No. Work runs on Wavemaker's servers, so you can close the tab and come back to the conversation later. When the work finishes, fails or is canceled, the conversation also gets one notice in your Wavemaker Inbox while Creation completed or failed is on under Settings › Notifications. It is on by default. See Recover interrupted or uncertain work.

Credits, plans and billing

How does pricing work?

Work is paid in credits from the active workspace's wallet. Our own GPU time is charged at twice what it costs us, and everything else, including the assistant's model and partner models, at cost plus 10%. Each step reserves credits before it runs, is charged for what it actually used, and returns the rest. Before you send, Check what this message costs under Planning budget gives an estimate and spends nothing. To cap what one message may spend, set Total planning limit (credits) there too. A fully animated, finished 1-minute video typically costs about 470 credits, about $31 at pack prices; see How prices are set. The Pricing page lists current packs and plans. See Credits.

Do new accounts get free credits?

Yes. A new account currently gets 300 starter credits once, and they expire 14 days after they are granted. They work in the Wavemaker app and in agents you connect with sign-in, but can't be spent through an API key until the workspace has made a payment. A workspace you create later starts with an empty wallet. See Starter credits.

Do I need a paid plan to make video?

No. Starter credits and credit packs can pay for video, and the composer doesn't limit models, quality or formats by plan. Until the workspace makes its first payment, every video Wavemaker generates in it carries a small Wavemaker icon and "created with wavemaker.io" burned into the file. Paying later doesn't remove it from earlier videos; stills, audio and video made on your own provider key are never marked. Your own brand watermark is separate and stays off unless you set it up. See The free-plan badge.

Do unused credits expire?

Credits from packs and top-ups never expire. Monthly plan credits stay usable for one more month after the month they were granted, then expire. Wavemaker spends the credits that expire soonest first. See Unused plan credits.

Am I charged when something fails?

A step that never started returns its whole reservation. A step that fails or is stopped after it started is charged for the work it did, never more than it reserved. Anything already finished is kept, so continuing from saved work doesn't pay for it twice. See What you are charged.

What happens when I run out of credits?

A step already running when a limit is reached finishes, and nothing new starts; you're never charged past the limit. Add credits, then select Continue on the Needs you notice under the reply; your files and plan are kept. A message that can't start shows Waiting for credits and sends automatically once your balance covers it. See When credits run out.

Can I get a refund?

Credit purchases and plan fees are non-refundable except where the law requires. For a payment error or a refund right, email legal@adwave.com. If a charge for work looks wrong, open its receipt and contact support with the receipt ID. See If a charge looks wrong.

How do I change or cancel my plan?

Open Usage and credits, find Workspace billing and select Manage billing; it is shown to owners and admins. An upgrade takes effect at once; a downgrade or cancellation takes effect at the end of the period, with no refund for part of a period. Credits already granted stay usable until they expire. See Change, cancel or renew.

Can I use my own account with a model provider?

Yes. Save a key for a provider in Connections, and that provider's models run on your key and bill you directly. Wavemaker's own GPU models, renders and the assistant's model use are still paid in credits. If the provider refuses your key, the work stops; it never switches to your credits. See Work on your own provider key.

Making and revising

Which video model does Wavemaker use?

Unless you choose one, video starts on H3 · self-hosted, Wavemaker's own video model, at every quality level. Partner models such as Kling 3.0 or Runway Gen-4.5 run when you pick one under Agent & models or name one in your brief. A model you pick is a firm choice: the agent uses it or stops to ask. See Video models.

Can I approve the plan before anything costly runs?

Yes. Ask for a plan, script or shot list first and end your brief with "Wait for my go-ahead", then ask for the final once you're happy. Draft quality usually costs less while you explore. To approve every step instead, turn on Step by step. See Plan in stages.

How do I change one part of a result?

Select Refine on the result, choose Whole output, Part of the output or, for measured video and audio, Specific time range, and select Use as target. Then describe the change and what to keep, and send. The original and other takes are kept. See Choose, compare and revise a result.

What if one shot in my video fails?

The progress card shows Shot N didn't render, and finished shots are saved. Choose Try shot N again, Use another video model or Skip it and finish. Each choice is a new message and is charged like any other take. See Redo one shot.

Can Wavemaker train a model on my face or product?

No. Wavemaker doesn't train models for customers. To keep a person, product or place consistent, attach clear photos or a saved Library identity and say which features must not change; the agent usually makes stills first and builds video shots from them. See Use trained models and reusable assets.

Can I make 18+ content?

Yes. You don't need a plan or a setting: the agent judges from your brief whether it asks for adult work, and you don't declare your age. Show 18+ material, which needs an active paid plan, only controls whether you see 18+ items in Discover. Adult work can't use an image of, or name, a real person, and any sexual or nude depiction of a real person or a minor is refused. See How 18+ material works.

Library, sharing and downloads

Where do my files go?

Everything you make in a conversation lands in My library, grouped by the conversation that made it. Files you upload are there too, and work made outside a conversation, such as from an MCP client, appears under Other creations. Moving a conversation to Trash leaves its media in My library. See Library.

Who owns what I make?

You keep ownership of what you upload. The Terms of service say Wavemaker doesn't claim ownership of output generated for you, and you may use it for any lawful purpose, subject to the Terms, your payment obligations and the model providers' terms. They also note that the legal status of AI-generated content is unsettled. Items you add from Discover keep their creator's license.

How do I send a draft to a client for review?

On the result, choose Share. In the access sentence, choose who can open it and set can to view and give feedback, pick an expiry and, under More options, an optional passcode, then choose Copy link. Notes come back to you under Private reviews. Generating, saving and downloading never share anything on their own. See Share your work.

Can Wavemaker post to TikTok or YouTube for me?

No. Wavemaker makes the file in the format the placement needs, and you post it yourself. When the agent delivers for a named placement, the file is checked against that placement's specification first. See When work counts as delivered.

How long does Wavemaker keep my files?

Wavemaker doesn't delete uploads or generated files automatically after a fixed period. They stay with their workspace until you delete them or close the workspace. Keep your own copies of anything you need. See Your data: export, deletion and privacy settings.

Discover and community

Can I sell my work or buy items in Discover?

Not yet. Paid listings and paid acquisitions aren't available, so every listing is free today and adding an item to your Library never charges you. A listing published with a price above 0.00 is refused. See Prices and what you can acquire today.

How do I report something in Discover or the community?

Choose Report on the listing, collection, comment or profile, pick what's wrong and submit. Reporting needs a personal sign-in, and the creator doesn't see who reported. Follow the case under Settings › Reports and appeals. See Report content.

Account, sign-in and privacy

My sign-in code hasn't arrived. What should I do?

Check your spam folder and that you used the email on your account. A code is sent only to a verified address, at most once a minute, and it expires in 10 minutes; a new code replaces the previous one, so use the newest. See Sign-in and access.

How do I invite my team?

An owner or admin opens Members and roles, enters the person's Exact account username under Invitations, chooses a role and selects Invite. The person needs a Wavemaker account first. To open the workspace's existing projects and files, a member also needs Grant access to all workspace resources. See Invite someone.

Can I have more than one workspace?

Yes. You can own up to five workspaces and be a member of others. Each has its own work, Library and wallet, and credits never move between workspaces. See Manage your account, workspaces and team.

Is my content used to train AI models?

The Privacy Policy says Wavemaker doesn't use the content of your prompts or your content to train foundation AI models, and doesn't sell your personal information. The providers that process your data are listed on Service providers and subprocessors.

How do I export or delete my data?

Open Data and privacy to export or close your personal account. For a workspace you own, open it from Your workspaces and choose Data and privacy. Each closure shows a preview of what is removed and kept before you confirm. Unused credits in a closed workspace are forfeited. See Your data: export, deletion and privacy settings.

Developers

Is there an API?

Yes. Your software calls https://api.wavemaker.io with a developer credential from Connections › Developer setup, which lasts 1, 7 or 30 days. API work spends the same workspace credits as the web app, and a request repeated with the same request_id is never charged twice. See Connect to Wavemaker.

Can I use Wavemaker from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor?

Yes, over MCP. In Claude or ChatGPT, add a remote server at https://api.wavemaker.io/mcp, leave any client ID and secret blank, and sign in to Wavemaker when it asks. Cursor connects through the mcp-remote adapter, set up as the guide shows. You can revoke access under Connections › App grants. See Connect an external agent with MCP.

Is there a CLI or an SDK?

Not publicly yet. The wavemaker CLI and the Python, TypeScript and Go clients have no public release; the Download page and Python, TypeScript and Go clients show when one is published. Until then, use the HTTP API or MCP.

Why does my API call say starter credits need a payment?

Starter credits can't be spent through an API key until the workspace has made a payment. The request is refused with 402 insufficient_credits and details.reason set to starter_credits_need_payment. Add credits or a plan, or use the starter credits in the web app or an agent connected with sign-in. See Errors, limits and safe retries.
