Download results and recover an unavailable file
Save original files, put several into one ZIP to download or send, and recover a download without creating duplicate work.
Updated
Download a result
- Open the conversation and find the finished result.
- Choose Download video, Download image or Download audio (other files show Download).
- Your browser saves the original file.
For an image or video you can also choose Open original, which opens the full file in a new tab. In the enlarged viewer, Download saves the same original and confirms "Download started · original file".
Wavemaker checks that you are signed in to the workspace that owns the file each time you download. The download address in the result stays the same; it doesn't expire while you keep access.
Check that it worked
- Open the downloaded file. Play video and audio through once with sound, and look at images at full size.
- Check the file type, dimensions and duration against where it is going.
- Keep the original alongside any resized or converted copy you make.
A preview in the conversation can be smaller than the original. The download is always the original file as it was made, not a re-encode.
Download several files
- Download all: when the agent delivers a set of display ad sizes, the set shows a Download all 6 button (with the number of files). It downloads each original one after another; your browser may ask once to allow several downloads.
- Download as ZIP: to hand off a set of files as one ZIP. See the next section.
- Library: Uploaded files & assets in Library tools lists your uploads, each with a Download button.
Download several files as one ZIP
Download as a ZIP puts the files you pick into one ZIP, exactly as they were made, to download or send to an editor, an agency or an ad server. Building a ZIP runs no generation and makes no new media.
- Open it from More options › Download as ZIP on a result (which adds that result), from Library tools › Download as ZIP, or from the selection bar in My library (which adds the files you selected). It lives at /app/exports.
- Choose Add files to pick more from your Library. A ZIP can hold only files your workspace owns; acquired items can't be added. Each file shows its name, kind and size, with a button to remove it.
- Optionally change a file's name inside the ZIP, and the ZIP name (up to 80 characters: letters, numbers, spaces, dashes or underscores, starting with a letter or number). A ZIP started from one file takes that file's name; otherwise it starts as "Wavemaker files".
- Choose Make ZIP.
When it finishes you see Ready: with the ZIP's file name, the number of files and its size. Choose Download. Where your device has a share sheet, Share prepares the ZIP and then Open share sheet hands it over; you choose where it goes.
- Pick
Add files from a result or your Library.
- Make
Choose Make ZIP; Wavemaker checks each file is the original and writes the ZIP.
- Download
Save the ZIP, or share it from your device.
Options
Options under the file list holds everything else. You don't need any of it for a plain ZIP.
- Include a text file: text you add goes in the ZIP as
copy.txt, for a caption, credits or notes. After the ZIP is made, Copy the text copies it. - Where it's going: a note for yourself, kept in the ZIP's
manifest.json(up to 160 characters). - What to include: leave Files only selected. Files and picked project sources is offered too, but project source packages can't go in a ZIP yet: a ZIP that includes one is refused with "Owned source packages cannot be packed by this service yet; select artifacts".
- Check sizes: for each file, Width (pixels), Height (pixels), Longest (seconds) and Largest (bytes) refuse a file that doesn't match. Leave a box empty for any size. A width or height must match the file exactly. Nothing is resized or converted.
- Use as: what each file is for: original file, poster image, audio stem, captions or subtitles. A poster must be an image and an audio stem must be audio. Captions and subtitles must be UTF-8 SRT or WebVTT files of 2 MiB or less.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Files per ZIP | 64 |
| Total size of the files | 512 MiB |
| Width or height | 1 to 32,768 pixels |
| Longest | Up to 86,400 seconds |
| Text file | Up to 8,000 characters |
A file that misses its size checks stops the ZIP with "Selected originals do not meet the declared destination requirements; no conversion was performed". Files over the total size stop it with "Selected originals exceed the 512 MiB archive limit". Ask the agent for a version in the right size or format, or change the checks, then make the ZIP again.
What's in the ZIP
- Each file, stored without recompression and numbered in order with the name you set, for example
01-hero-cut.mp4. manifest.json, which records the ZIP's name and where it's going and, for each file, its exact reference, SHA-256 hash, role and size. Keep it with the ZIP.copy.txt, when you added a text file.
Open What's inside on the result to see every file. Each one has its own download, Copy private link and share buttons. Copy private link gives a link that opens only for people signed in to this workspace. The Checksums (SHA-256) list there covers the ZIP and every file.
Your picks are saved in this browser until you make the ZIP: "Saved in this browser. Nothing is made until you choose Make ZIP." Earlier ZIPs at the bottom of the page lists the ones you started in this browser; choose Open to go back to one. Each file can be in a ZIP only once.
If a ZIP is interrupted
You can leave the page while a ZIP is being made. If it's interrupted, your picks are kept, and checking again never makes a second ZIP.
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| This ZIP is still being made. | Choose Check again to pick up the result. |
| This ZIP is being checked in another tab. | Finish or close the other tab, then check again here. |
| No archive kept | Choose Make it again; the same files, versions and size checks are used. |
| The ZIP wasn’t made | One of the files couldn't be confirmed as the original. Choose Change files. |
| No write access | Ask a workspace owner for access, or download the files one by one. |
| Too large to share | It's too big for your device's share sheet. Download it instead, or use Share to send someone a link. |
If a download is unavailable
| Message | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Sign in again, then retry this private download. | Your sign-in expired. | Sign in and choose the download again. |
| Return to the workspace that owns this file. | You switched workspace. | Switch back to the workspace that made it. |
| This file belongs to another workspace | You opened a file link while signed in to another workspace. | Choose Open your workspaces and switch, or sign in with another account. |
| This file is unavailable | It was removed, or your access changed. | Check that you are in the right workspace. Ask the owner if it was shared with you. |
| This original is unavailable or access changed. | The file can't be read right now, or you lost access. | Choose Refresh media in More options, or reload the conversation, then try again. |
A shared link someone sent you follows its owner's settings: it may have expired or been revoked, or may not allow downloads. Ask the owner for a fresh link. See Share your work.
Videos made before your first payment
Videos generated before the workspace's first payment carry a small Wavemaker icon and "created with wavemaker.io" in a corner. The mark is part of the stored file, so every download of that video includes it, and no unmarked copy is kept. Paying later does not remove it from earlier videos; videos generated after that payment come without it, and so do videos generated on your own provider key. Stills and audio are never marked. See Plans and Brand kits and watermarks.
Downloading is separate from sharing
A download stays on your device. It does not create a public page, a listing or a link. To share, choose the exact item and check the link's audience and permissions; see Share your work. To get a copy of all your workspace data, see Privacy and your data.
