Juno Ashby

A character reference sheet: one canonical plate, the views a production needs, its location and storyboard.

Before any video, a recurring character needs one approved look. A reference sheet fixes the face, hair and wardrobe in a canonical plate, then adds only the angles the storyboard calls for, each made from that plate so errors don't compound. Juno Ashby is an invented soul singer designed this way; the same plates then made the Last Skate at the Starlite music video.

To make your own, describe the character, what they wear and the project they're for. Wavemaker writes a short character brief, makes and checks the canonical plate, derives the views your shots need and sketches the storyboard. The download includes the plate, the views, the location plate, the storyboard and the character brief.

A reference sheet for an invented soul singer: a large studio portrait in a burnt-orange satin blouse and cream trousers beside three-quarter, profile, full-body on roller skates, close-up and singing views, and an empty 1970s roller rink
